Puzzle #9 – Themeless #3

Elizabeth I

Update from last week: Erik tells me that a bunch of you checked out his new puzzle site last week – thanks for checking it out! Remember – he updates each Wednesday; it’s the perfect cure for the Hump Day Blues. This week he’s running a contest – give it a shot? (If you found Matt Gaffney’s contest last week (yes, that’s a link to his new URL!) as hard as I did, you’ll appreciate this more friendly one.)

My test solver would like you to know that she does not approve of 34-Down in any way, shape or form. And it’s not just because you have to play a little loose with the clue, either. You’ll know it when you see it, and hopefully it’s worth a grin. Share the puzzle; tell a friend. There’s a neat bonus coming up next week with Puzzle #10, too; don’t fall off the edge of your seat just yet!

Actually, on further reflection 23A bothered me a lot more than 34D.

Gah, you beat me to 8-Down! Been on my seed list for a while now. Ballin’ puzzle.

Glad to see that watching Big Brother for a couple of seasons wasn’t a total waste… :)
